Blackhawks 5, Stars 2: Andrew Shaw scored to snap a tie 4:31 into the third period and captain Jonathan Toews recorded his 10th goal in 15 contests as host Chicago skated to its sixth straight victory.
Marian Hossa had an empty-net goal and two assists while Viktor Stalberg and defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson also tallied. Shaw and Toews each added an assist and Ray Emery turned aside 16 shots to improve to 16-1-0 for the Blackhawks, who moved six points ahead of idle Pittsburgh in the race for the Presidents' Trophy.
Jamie Benn scored twice and Richard Bachman finished with 23 saves for the Stars, who saw their five-game winning streak come to an end and remained two points behind eighth-place Detroit in the Western Conference.
After Benn scored from just beyond the right faceoff circle at 3:07 of the third to forge a 2-2 tie, Shaw regained the lead for Chicago just 84 seconds later. Patrick Kane skated through the slot before tapping the puck to Shaw, who one-timed a shot past Bachman. Hjalmarsson provided insurance just over three minutes later as his blast from the slot sailed over Bachman's left shoulder.
Toews opened the scoring by deflecting Hossa's one-timer, and Stalberg's wrist shot from the inner edge of the right circle gave Chicago a 2-0 lead at 12:14 of the second. Benn answered 1:58 later, finishing a 3-on-1 rush by beating Emery inside the near post.
