T.J. Oshie had a goal and an assist as the St. Louis Blues held off the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets 6-4 on Sunday.
Alex Steen, Jason Arnott and Alex Pietrangelo scored three unanswered goals in the third period as St. Louis extended its unbeaten streak to six games (5-0-1).
Jaroslav Halak made 28 saves for his sixth win of the season.
Pietrangelo finished off a 3-2 rush with David Backes at 12:08 of the third period for what turned out to be the-game winner, as Derick Brassard netted a late goal for Columbus.
Patrik Berglund added an empty-netter to secure the win. Kevin Shattenkirk also had a goal and David Perron added two assists for St. Louis.
Arnott netted his sixth goal of the season and second in as many nights at 6:43 of the third period. The veteran forward was the recipient of some strong work by Perron behind the net, who slid the puck to an open Arnott.
Steen scored 58 seconds into the final frame to tie the game at 3-3. Oshie deflected Carlo Colaiacovo’s point shot to a wide-open Steen, who buried the puck into an open cage. It was his 11th goal.
With just 1.3 seconds left in the middle frame, R.J. Umberger fed a backhand cross-crease pass to Mark Letestu, who one-timed his fifth goal of the season on the power play to give the Jackets a 3-2 lead heading into the third period.
Earlier in the second, the Blue Jackets erased a 2-1 deficit when Fedor Tyutin’s point shot was tipped up and over a stunned Halak by Derek Dorsett. It was his seventh goal of the season.
Derek MacKenzie tallied his fourth goal of the year in the first period for Columbus. The Blues responded with two goals 55 seconds apart by Shattenkirk and Oshie.
