Arizona 73, Ohio State 58: Gabe York scored 19 points and made five 3-pointers as the Wildcats knocked off the Buckeyes in NCAA Tournament play in Portland, Ore., to reach the Sweet 16.

T.J. McConnell had 19 points, six rebounds, six assists and five steals for second-seeded Arizona (33-3), which faces No. 6 seed Xavier in the next round. Rondae Hollis-Jefferson had 11 points, 10 rebounds and five assists and Kaleb Tarczewski had eight points and nine rebounds as the Wildcats overcame 36.5 percent shooting to win their 13th consecutive game.

D’Angelo Russell struggled through a 3-of-19 shooting effort and had nine points, seven rebounds and six assists for No. 10 seed Ohio State (24-11). Sam Thompson scored 18 points and Shannon Scott added 10 for the Buckeyes.

Ohio State trailed by 13 after York connected on his fifth 3-pointer with 9:52 remaining and showed life as Russell hit a jumper and Marc Loving drained a 3-pointer to cut Arizona’s lead to 52-44. Elliott Pitts answered with a 3-pointer and the Wildcats scored seven straight to go up by 15 points and cruised to the finish.

The Buckeyes led by six in the first half before Arizona surpassed Ohio State on two free throws by Tarczewski with 52 seconds left for a 26-25 halftime lead. York knocked down three 3-pointers in the first eight-plus minutes of the second half to give the Wildcats a 46-36 advantage.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Arizona collected 18 offensive rebounds while possessing a 43-26 edge on the boards. … The Buckeyes were 5-of-17 from 3-point range, with Russell missing six of his seven attempts. … Wildcats F Stanley Johnson grabbed 10 rebounds, but had four points on 1-of-12 shooting.
