Pacers 102, Warriors 94: Paul George scored 23 points and Roy Hibbert had 14 points and 13 rebounds as visiting Indiana downed Golden State for its fifth straight victory.
David West scored 17 points and George Hill added 15 as the Pacers improved their NBA-best record to 33-7. Lance Stephenson contributed 14 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists as Indiana won the opener of a five-game road trip.
Stephen Curry had 24 points and nine assists and David Lee added 20 points and 12 rebounds for the Warriors. Klay Thompson scored 17 points for Golden State, which has lost four of its last six contests following a 10-game winning streak.
The Pacers led by 20 points early in the third quarter before seeing Golden State narrow its deficit to 89-86 on two free throws by Lee with 3:44 remaining. A tip-in by Luis Scola and a 3-pointer by Stephenson pushed the lead to 94-87 with 3:01 to play before Thompson knocked down his fifth 3-pointer of the game 57 seconds later.
Golden State was within 98-94 after Andre Iguodala’s driving bank shot with 44.9 seconds but didn’t score again. George and West each hit two free throws in the final 15.4 seconds to seal it.
The Warriors trailed 60-40 after the Pacers began the third quarter with seven straight points to prompt Golden State coach Mark Jackson to call a timeout and challenge his squad. Curry deciphered the message and scored 10 points in the quarter as the Warriors cut the Pacers’ lead to 77-69 entering the final stanza.
Indiana led 35-21 after the first quarter and continued to control the pace in the second on its way to a 53-40 halftime lead. George had 14 points and the Pacers shot 53.5 percent from the field while holding the Warriors to 40 percent and 3-of-13 from 3-point range.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Indiana stands 11-2 against Western Conference teams and its next five games are also against teams from the West. … Warriors C Andrew Bogut had 10 points and 13 rebounds and briefly left the game in the fourth quarter after banging his right knee. … The Pacers had 17 offensive rebounds en route to a 52-45 edge on the boards.
