Knicks 106, Hawks 104: Carmelo Anthony poured in 42 points, including the go-ahead three-point play with 12.5 seconds left, as host New York held on in a wild finish.
Anthony, who tied Richie Guerin's franchise record with his 29th consecutive game with 20 or more points, tied a franchise mark with nine 3-pointers, and Amar'e Stoudemire added 18 points and eight rebounds off the bench for the Knicks.
Jeff Teague collected 27 points and six assists and Josh Smith scored 20 points for the Hawks, who had a three-game win streak snapped.
The Hawks led 104-103 with the ball, but Smith was whistled for an illegal screen. Anthony drove past Smith for a layup and a foul at the other end and converted the three-point play for a 106-104 advantage with 12.5 seconds left.
Smith had a good look at a 3-pointer for the win at the buzzer, but it was off the mark. The Hawks finished 10-for-23 (43.5 percent) from 3-point range, while the Knicks were 16-for-27 (59.3 percent).
GAME NOTEBOOK: Teague's 3-pointer to open the scoring for Atlanta gave him 2,000 points for his career. … Hawks F Kyle Korver was 2-for-6 from 3-point range and has made a 3-pointer in 38 consecutive games, four short of Mookie Blaylock's franchise record. … Knicks PG Raymond Felton contributed 12 points and 10 assists in his second game back from a broken finger suffered on Christmas Day.
