MILWAUKEE -- Adam Duvall had two hits, including a game-tying, three-run home run the eighth, then drove in the go-ahead run on a groundout in the ninth as the Cincinnati Reds snapped an 11-game losing streak with a 7-6 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday evening at Miller Park.
Aaron Hill and Jonathan Lucroy each had two hits each for Milwaukee, which saw its four-game winning streak come to an end despite a 6-1 lead.
Duvall's home run wiped out the deficit and was his second in as many games. He came up with the bases loaded and one out in the ninth only to ground into a double-play against Jeremy Jeffress.
But Reds manager Bryan Price asked the umpires to review the play at second base and after an estimated 2:01 delay, it was ruled Scooter Gennett did not touch second, so the go-ahead run scored and Cincinnati went ahead.
Duvall also got Cincinnati on the board, doubling and scoring in the fourth on a double by Tyler Holt, who moved to third on Tucker Barnhart's flyout to right.
That brought up Reds starting pitcher Alfredo Simon, and that's when things took a turn.
Despite two outs in the inning, Simon showed bunt on the offering from Anderson. Holt, meanwhile, was charging from third.
Chase Anderson hit Simon in the thigh, negating Holt's attempt to steal. Anderson got out of the inning by getting Zack Mozart to bounce out to first.
As luck would have it, Anderson would lead off the bottom of the fifth for Milwaukee and Simon's first offering was a direct shot at Anderson's shoulder.
Simon was tossed immediately but both Simon and Price pleaded their case with the umpiring crew for an extended time before finally leaving the field as right-hander A.J. Morris took over.
Jonathan Lucroy's second home run in as many games gave the Brewers 4-1 lead and two insurance runs in the sixth put Milwaukee up by five.
But right-hander Michael Blazek couldn't protect the lead, allowing five runs own five hits in two-thirds of an inning. Duvall struck the biggest blow, hitting a 3-and-2 slider to left-center for his 11th home run of the season.
Anderson went five innings and held the Reds to a run on five hits and no walks while striking out three.
Simon scattered three runs on three hits with two walks and a strikeout in four innings.
NOTES: Brewers manager Craig Counsell gave LF Ryan Braun the day off Saturday. Counsell said it was a scheduled day off and had nothing to do with the sore wrist or lower back tightness that held Braun out of six of seven games a week ago. He is expected back in the lineup Sunday. ... Reds RHP Jon Moscat, working his way back from a left shoulder injury, will throw one more bullpen session with Triple-A Louisville and rejoin the Reds next week in Colorado, manager Bryan Price said. ... Milwaukee RHPs Matt Garza (strained right lat) and Corey Knebel (left oblique strain) threw simulated games Saturday and will make a minor league rehab assignments early next week. Garza will join Class A Wisconsin in Peoria, Ill., on Tuesday for his first start, while Knebel will join Class A Brevard County for two outings, then advance to Triple-A Colorado Springs. Neither has pitched for Milwaukee this season because of injuries sustained late in spring training.
