Diamondbacks 5, Dodgers 4: Willie Bloomquist highlighted a four-run ninth inning with a two-run single as visiting Arizona rallied to win the opener of the three-game series.

Clayton Kershaw yielded one run over seven innings and Kenley Jansen tossed a scoreless eighth before Brandon League (2-3) entered in the ninth to preserve a 3-1 lead. Jason Kubel singled in a run and Bloomquist put Arizona ahead with his infield hit. Peter Moylan replaced League and allowed Paul Goldschmidt’s RBI single.

Tony Sipp (3-1) retired one batter in the eighth and Heath Bell allowed a solo homer by Juan Uribe in the ninth before recording his 12th save. The Dodgers had runners at the corners with one out when Bell struck out Mark Ellis and retired Adrian Gonzalez on a comebacker to end the game.

Cody Ross collected three hits for the Diamondbacks, who have won five in a row against the Dodgers and 10 of their last 12 meetings at Dodger Stadium. Arizona starter Wade Miley allowed three runs over six innings.

The Dodgers took a 3-1 lead in the fifth, when Ellis launched a one-out solo homer into the left-field seats. Ellis, Jerry Hairston Jr. and Yasiel Puig had three hits apiece for the Dodgers, with Puig recording his sixth straight multi-hit game and improving to 16-for-32 since being called up from the minors last week.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Kershaw gave up one run on six hits and remained winless in his last six matchups against Arizona. ... The Dodgers optioned RHP Matt Magill to Triple-A Albuquerque and recalled INF Justin Sellers, who hit .191 in 68 at-bats earlier this season. … Diamondbacks RHP Charles Brewer made his major-league debut, tossing 1 2/3 scoreless innings.
