Yankees 6, Royals 2: Edwin Nunez snapped a tie with a two-out triple as New York scored four times in the seventh inning and went on to snap a three-game skid.
Mark Teixeira and Derek Jeter each belted a two-run homer while CC Sabathia tossed eight strong innings for the Yankees, who also ended a three-game road losing streak.
After Robinson Cano led off the seventh with a single, Bruce Chen (0-4) retired the next two batters. But Nunez tripled to right field to put New York ahead, then scored on Chris Stewart's single to make it 4-2.
Jeter followed by depositing a 2-2 offering from Chen over the left-center field wall for his fifth blast of the season.
Sabathia (4-0) yielded two runs and seven hits en route to his 18th career victory over the Royals. The burly southpaw struck out five without a walk.
Chen was tagged for six runs and nine hits in 6 2/3 innings. The veteran fell to 2-6 lifetime against New York.
Alex Gordon and Jeff Francoeur each had an RBI double for the Royals, who fell to 1-11 at home.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Sabathia's 18 wins are the most against Kansas City among active American League pitchers. Mark Buehrle of the Miami Marlins leads all active hurlers with 22 career wins over the Royals ... The Yankees have hit at least one homer in 21 of their 26 games ... David Robertson proved worthy of filling the injured Mariano Rivera's closer role, striking out the side in the ninth inning in a non-save situation. Rivera, who was lost for the season Thursday with a torn ACL in his right knee, plans to return next season.
