Curtis Granderson stayed hot with a 4-for-4 effort to lead the Yankees to a 9-1 win over the Indians Sunday afternoon in the Bronx.
Granderson failed to homer for the first time in four games, but he still found plenty of other ways to do damage, driving in two runs to send Cleveland to its 14th loss in 18 games. Alex Rodriguez chipped in with three RBIs, including a two-run double in New York’s five-run fifth inning.
That was the final frame for Josh Tomlin (7-4), who allowed six earned runs for the third straight start. He surrendered 12 hits while throwing 88 pitches in just five innings.
Yankees hurler Freddy Garcia (5-5) allowed just one earned run on seven hits and struck out six in 6 2/3 innings.
The Yankees’ rotation has held the slumping Indians to just three runs in three days after the Boston Red Sox battered New York starters for 18 runs in a three-game sweep last week.
