Torii Hunter homered twice and had a season-high five RBIs to lead the Los Angeles Angels to an 8-3 victory over the visiting Baltimore Orioles on Friday.
Hunter hit a three-run homer in the first and a two-run shot in the seventh while extending his hitting streak to 17 games as Los Angeles remained six games behind first-place Texas in the American League West race.
Dan Haren (13-6) gave up three runs and nine hits in seven innings for the Angels. The righthander struck out eight and walked none, and has walked two or fewer hitters in 17 consecutive starts.
Peter Bourjos and Mike Trout also homered for Los Angeles.
Matt Wieters had a run-scoring single in the third and Adam Jones hit sacrifice flies in the fifth and seventh innings for the Orioles, who have lost three straight games.
Howie Kendrick had a run-scoring single in the first prior to Hunter’s first homer.
Baltimore starter Jo-Jo Reyes (6-10) allowed five runs and eight hits in five innings.
