Baylor 78, No. 18 Oklahoma 73: Isaiah Austin had 18 points, five rebounds and five blocked shots and the Bears never trailed while eliminating the Sooners in the Big 12 quarterfinals in Kansas City.

Cory Jefferson contributed 14 points and 11 rebounds and Royce O’Neale added 12 points and 10 rebounds as seventh-seeded Baylor (23-10) advances to meet Texas in Friday’s semifinals. Kenny Chery had 12 points and seven assists and Brady Heslip also scored 12 points as the Bears won their fifth straight game and nine of their last 10.

Cameron Clark scored 19 points for second-seeded Oklahoma (23-9), which was just 12-of-35 from 3-point range. Buddy Hield had 15 points for the Sooners, who attempted just seven free throws (making five) while the Bears went 23-of-35.

The Sooners used a 16-4 second-half run to cut a 21-point deficit to nine and eventually pulled with 72-68 on Hield’s 3-pointer with 1:28 remaining. O’Neale and Heslip each hit two free throws to push the margin back to eight with 33.6 seconds left as Baylor held off the charge.

The Bears started strong with 10 consecutive points and were up by 13 after Jefferson’s 3-pointer with 5:30 left in the half. Baylor led by 18 late in the period and settled for a 47-31 halftime lead and lifted the advantage to 52-31 early in the second half.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The victory was the 201st as Baylor coach for Scott Drew to match the school mark set by Bill Henderson (18 seasons ending in 1961). … Oklahoma collected 15 offensive rebounds but the Bears had a 36-34 overall edge on the boards. … Austin has blocked 10 shots in the first two tournament games to raise his season count to 106.
