St. John's 82, Georgetown 60: Freshman Rysheed Jordan scored a career-high 24 points to lead the Red Storm to their fifth straight win.

D'Angelo Harrison contributed 24 points and seven rebounds for St. John's (17-9, 7-6 Big East), which snapped a six-game losing streak to the Hoyas. JaKarr Sampson added 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting as the Red Storm hit 57.4 percent from the field as a team.

D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera had 15 points to lead Georgetown (15-10, 6-7), while Jabril Trawick added 13 points off the bench. Markel Starks chipped in with 13 points, but starters Mikael Hopkins and Reggie Cameron, who came into the game averaging a combined 11.3 points, were both shut out, combining to shoot 0-for-4 from the floor.

The Red Storm came out of the gate quickly, scoring the game's first 15 points and holding the Hoyas scoreless for the first 6:18. Georgetown's first field goal came with just under 13 minutes to play, and the Hoyas trailed by 18 at half after shooting 42.3 percent in the first 20 minutes, including 1-of-6 from 3-point range.

St. John's shot 68 percent in the first half, then continued to keep the pressure on in the second, leading the entire way. Georgetown pulled within seven midway through the second half, but a Harrison 3-pointer pushed the lead back to 10 and the Hoyas would never get that close again.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Georgetown finished 3-of-13 from 3-point range. … The Red Storm won the rebound battle 27-22, grabbing eight offensive boards in the process. … St. John's C Chris Obekpa, who came into the game averaging 3.2 blocks, recorded his first blocked shot in three games and finished with two.
