Clemson 72, No. 13 Duke 59: K.J. McDaniels collected 24 points and 10 rebounds as the Tigers used a big second half to stun the visiting Blue Devils.
Jaron Blossomgame added 14 points and 14 boards while Larry Nnoko collected 10 points and 13 rebounds for Clemson (11-4, 2-1 ACC), which dominated the glass 48-30. Rod Hall added 11 points as the Tigers bounced back from a loss to Florida State.
Rodney Hood scored 20 points to lead Duke (12-4, 1-2), which went 8-for-32 from the field in the second half. Jabari Parker collected 15 points and seven rebounds in his best showing since the start of ACC play for the Blue Devils.
Duke took a 37-31 lead into the half and quickly extended it to a nine-point edge after the break before Clemson began to turn things around. Hall scored seven straight points to pull the Tigers within 40-38 and they kept it close until Blossomgame’s 3-pointer gave them a 52-50 edge with under 10 minutes to play.
Blossomgame nailed another 3-pointer to spark a game-ending 18-5 burst as Clemson put it away. The Blue Devils went the final six minutes without a field goal in suffering their first loss to Clemson since Feb. 4, 2009.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Duke has lost its first two ACC road games but will return home for the next two. … The Tigers entered the game leading the nation in scoring defense and held their 11th opponent under 60 points. … Nnoko had four of Clemson’s seven blocked shots.
