Oklahoma 83, West Virginia 70: Senior guard Steven Pledger scored 23 points, including five 3-pointers, and grabbed a game-high eight rebounds as the host Sooners won for the sixth time in their last eight games.
Senior forward Romero Osby led Oklahoma (20-9, 11-6) with 26 points while Sam Grooms added eight points and 10 assists. The Sooners made 10-of-18 from 3-point range and never trailed.
Freshman guard Eron Harris scored 23 points, including five 3-pointers, and Deniz Kilicli finished with 20 points for West Virginia (13-17, 6-11), which dropped its fifth straight game.
Oklahoma looked like it would blow out the Mountaineers early, jumping out to a quick 10-1 lead in the first three minutes en route to taking a 25-8 advantage with 10:47 to go. But West Virginia closed the half with an 8-2 run with Kilicli scoring all eight points and the Mountaineers trailed 39-28 at halftime.
West Virginia opened the second half with a 13-3 run to close to within three points, 44-41, but Oklahoma answered with a 10-3 run of its own to go back up by double figures, 54-44. The Mountaineers got as close as four points, 68-64, on a hook shot by Kilicli but forward Andrew Fitzgerald took advantage of two West Virginia defensive breakdowns to score the next five points and the Sooners pulled away down the stretch.
GAME NOTEBOOK: This was the third time the Sooners and Mountaineers played this season. Oklahoma also defeated West Virginia, 77-70, in the third place game of the Old Spice Classic in Orlando on Nov. 25 and 67-57 on Jan. 5 in Morgantown in West Virginia's first Big 12 contest. ... Oklahoma freshman G Buddy Hield, who had surgery Feb. 12 to repair a fractured fifth metatarsal bone in his right foot, returned to action after missing just five games and went scoreless in four minutes. ... Oklahoma, which tied the NCAA record for most free throw attempts in a game without a miss by going 34-for-34 in a 86-69 win over Iowa State on Saturday, was 21-of-27 against the Mountaineers.
