Miami 77, Charlotte 46: Durand Scott had a season-high 16 points and the Hurricanes jumped out early and never looked back, leading the entire game to knock off the previously unbeaten 49ers at home.
Miami (6-1) jumped out to a 12-2 lead less than four minutes into the game, with Shane Larkin scoring five of his nine points during the run. Charlotte (9-1) got to within eight with 8:33 to play in the first half, but the Hurricanes responded with a 10-3 run and never led by less than double digits the rest of the way.
Kenny Kadji led Miami with 17 points on 5-for-6 shooting from the field, including a perfect 3-for-3 from 3-point range, in just 24 minutes of playing time. Trey McKinney Jones added 10 points.
Chris Braswell paced the 49ers with 13 points while Willie Clayton added 11 points.
Scott tied his career high with 12 rebounds as the Hurricanes won the rebound battle, 40-33.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Braswell notched his seventh double-figure scoring game this season despite coming off the bench in every contest. … The Hurricanes came into the Charlotte game shooting 36.2 percent from 3-point range, but hit 46.7 percent (7 of 15) from beyond the arc in beating the 49ers. … Charlotte has a quick turnaround to its next contest, facing Kennesaw State on the road on Sunday. Miami hits the road for a two-game trip prior to Christmas, starting with a Tuesday game at UCF.
