Bradley Beal led six Wizards in double figures with 40 points, and Washington defeated the visiting Memphis Grizzlies 135-128 on Saturday night.

Beal scored 40 points for the second straight night and set a new career high with nine 3-pointers as the Wizards, 11th in the Eastern Conference, moved to within three games of eighth-place Miami.

Jabari Parker had 20 points and 11 rebounds, and Bobby Portis scored 18 points as Washington improved to 3-1 on a five-game homestand.

Mike Conley had 28 points and 12 assists for Memphis. Jonas Valanciunas had 22 points, and Avery Bradley scored 21.

The game featured 20 lead changes.

Beal was knocked to the floor on a collision with Valanciunas early in the third quarter but remained in the game, and his 3-pointer gave the Wizards an 83-77 lead.

The Grizzlies rallied to take the lead, but Washington answered, and Thomas Bryant's put-back dunk at the end of the third quarter gave the Wizards a 105-103 lead.

Beal's 3-pointer gave the Wizards a 119-114 lead with 6:03 remaining, and he followed with a driving layup to increase the lead to seven.

Bradley's 3-pointer cut the deficit to 123-119 before three Wizards free throws.

After a Valanciunas dunk, the Wizards turned it over, and Conley's free throws made it 126-123. Jeff Green responded with a corner 3-pointer for Washington.

Conley answered with a three, but Beal scored on a drive as the shot clock expired.

A Valanciunas dunk pulled Memphis within 131-128, but Parker hit two free throws with 6.2 seconds left.

Memphis led by as many as 11 in the second quarter, but Washington chipped away and took a 60-59 lead on Green's basket with 2:24 left in the first half.

Conley's runner at the buzzer gave Memphis a 71-69 halftime lead.

The Grizzlies shot 59.2 percent for the half while the Wizards hit 53.5 percent. Conley and Beal each had 19 points.
