Mavericks 123, Lakers 104: Monta Ellis had 30 points on 11-of-14 shooting and also recorded nine assists as Dallas routed visiting Los Angeles.

Jae Crowder scored 14 of his career-high 18 points in the final quarter as the Mavericks defeated the Lakers for only the second time in the last 11 regular-season meetings. Jose Calderon had 12 points on four 3-pointers as Dallas was 13-for-27 from behind the arc.

Nick Young scored 21 off the bench for the Lakers, who have lost three of their first five games. Jordan Farmer and Jodie Meeks added 11 points apiece.

Dallas never trailed and led by as many as 15 in the opening quarter and 20 in the second. Ellis had 16 first-half points as the Mavericks led 67-48 at the break.

The lead increased to 30 on Calderon’s 3-pointer with 4:33 left in the third quarter before Los Angeles cut its deficit to 94-77 entering the fourth. Crowder hit three 3-pointers and scored 11 points over the first 5 1/2 minutes of the stanza to give Dallas a 116-91 lead, and the Lakers never again threatened.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Ellis has scored 30 or more points twice and is averaging 25 points in his first four games with Dallas. … The Lakers were 12-of-31 from 3-point range with G Steve Blake knocking down three. … Dallas had 34 assists on 49 field goals and posted a 50-35 rebounding edge.
