Brandon Knight scored 17 points and Jose Calderon added 10 and 16 assists for the Pistons, who were without center Greg Monroe (ankle) in suffering their third straight defeat and seventh in eight games. Detroit coach Lawrence Frank also missed the game due to a personal issue.
In a game featuring dueling spurts, Detroit opened the second half on an 18-4 run before Knight hit three 3-pointers to built a 10-point lead. Felton rallied the Knicks, scoring 10 points in the final 3 1/2 minutes as New York closed the quarter on a 10-0 run to tie it at 65-65.
A 6-0 burst to start the fourth pushed the Knicks' lead to six, but the Pistons countered with an 8-0 run for a 73-71 lead with just under seven minutes left. New York took over from there, with Smith hitting a pair of 3-pointers and Jason Kidd and Felton each burying threes to cap a 16-0 surge.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Anthony, the league's second-leading scorer, sat out due to a nagging knee injury. He crashed to the floor in Monday's game without contact. ... Jason Maxiell scored 14 points and Kyle Singler added 13 as all five Detroit starters reached double figures. ... Knicks C Tyson Chandler pulled down 11 rebounds to help New York to a 48-36 edge on the boards.
