JAZZ 117, MAGIC 107 (OT): Al Jefferson had 21 points and 10 rebounds and Devin Harris scored 21 as Utah held tough in overtime against visiting Orlando to increase its edge over Phoenix for the final Western playoff spot.
Utah (34-30) moved a full game ahead of Phoenix (33-31) for eighth place. Phoenix plays at Utah on Tuesday and holds the tiebreaker over the Jazz.
Orlando (36-27) was playing its first game since learning superstar Dwight Howard is done for the season.
Jefferson tied the score at 101-101 with 21.4 seconds to go in regulation, forcing overtime.
The Jazz, who had made only two 3-pointers in regulation, got two in the extra period plus made all four free throws to pull away from the Magic.
Paul Millsap had 18 points and nine rebounds and Derrick Favors had 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Jazz. Gordon Hayward scored 12.
Jameer Nelson had 23 points and 11 assists for the Magic. Jason Richardson and Ryan Anderson each scored 21. Glen Davis had 17 points and 13 rebounds.
Orlando made 15 of 38 3-pointers to just 4 of 8 for the Jazz.
Orlando seemed to put the game out of reach with a 19-2 run for an 81-69 lead. The Jazz then went on a 12-2 run and trailed 83-81 after three quarters.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Magic also played without Earl Clark, who was ruled out with a sore left knee. … The Jazz were without Josh Howard (knee), who said he will try to play against the Suns on Tuesday. … “The guys know what they have to do,” Jazz coach Tyrone Corbin said of the playoffs. “It's not complex.” … Utah had a 62-36 edge in points in the paint.
