CAVALIERS 98, WIZARDS 89: NBA Development League callup Luke Harangody had 16 points and 10 rebounds as Cleveland held off host Washington.
Harangody, who was recalled from the D-League's Canton Charge for a one-night appearance, shot 6 for 11 from the field and added three steals as the Cavaliers (20-38) bounced back from a home-and-home sweep at the hands of the Indiana Pacers.
Cleveland will wrap up its back-to-back-to-back stretch Sunday against the visiting Orlando Magic.
Anthony Parker had 15 points, Tristan Thompson added 14 and Donald Sloan chipped in with 13 for the Cavaliers, who shot 51.5 percent from the field.
John Wall had 19 points and nine assists and Jordan Crawford poured in 18 points for Washington (14-46), which has dropped seven of nine. Kevin Seraphin added 15 points in defeat.
After allowing the Cavaliers to build a seven-point halftime lead, the Wizards responded in the third quarter. Seraphin’s 13-footer early in the frame trimmed the deficit to two, and Roger Mason and James Singleton knocked down 3-pointers later in the quarter after Cleveland went back in front by nine.
Jan Vesely added a two-handed follow-up slam on the Wizards' final possession of the third to make it a two-point game entering the final quarter.
Washington closed to within a point in the early going but followed by making just one field goal during a 4 1/2-minute span, allowing Cleveland to pull away again. Harangody buried an 18-footer with 5:22 remaining to make it a nine-point advantage, and Washington wouldn't challenge the rest of the way.
The victory allowed Cleveland to surpass its win total from all of last season.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Cleveland rookie PG Kyrie Irving (sprained shoulder) is expected to miss one more game but will take part in shootaround Tuesday and may play that night against the host Detroit Pistons. F Anderson Varejao (broken wrist) said he's still dealing with soreness and is a long shot to play in the Cavaliers' next two games. ... Harangody was making his first NBA start. ... Seraphin came into the night averaging 15.8 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in eight games this month.
