Tim Duncan hit the go-ahead layup with 22.9 seconds left in overtime as the San Antonio Spurs beat the winless Houston Rockets 124-121 Saturday night.

Manu Ginobili scored a game-high 28 points on 11-of-24 shooting to lead six San Antonio players in double figures, and hit a 17-foot jumper from the right wing with 9.5 seconds left in regulation to force overtime. Tony Parker added 21 points and 14 assists for the Spurs (4-1), who have won three straight.

Duncan (19 points, 11 rebounds) and Antonio McDyess (11 points, 10 rebounds) also had double-doubles for San Antonio.

The Rockets (0-5) squandered halftime leads in each of their first four games. They trailed 57-52 at halftime this time but rallied to take the lead, but they couldn't get the one last stop they needed to pick up their first win.

Both of Houston's starting guards – Kevin Martin and Aaron Brooks – left after rolling their ankles. Martin still scored a team-high 24 points in 21 minutes, and Brooks scored 18 points in 17 minutes.

Houston got 38 points off the bench, led by Ishmael Smith and Courtney Lee with 11 apiece. Chuck Hayes added eight points and 13 rebounds in 26 minutes.

Houston also sat Yao Ming for the first of back-to-back games, choosing to play the 7-foot-6 center against Minnesota on Sunday. The Rockets are limiting Yao's minutes as he makes his way back from foot surgery that kept him out all of last season.
