Stephen Jackson scored 38 points and D.J. Augustin added 28 - both season highs - as the host Charlotte Bobcats defeated the injury-ravaged Cleveland Cavaliers, 101-92, to improve to 2-0 under interim coach Paul Silas.
The Bobcats’ starting backcourt of Jackson and Augustin outscored Cavaliers starting guards of Manny Harris and Daniel Gibson, 66-19.
Harris started for point guard Mo Williams, who missed the game with a hip flexor injury. Gibson went down in the third quarter with a thigh contusion and did not return.
An undrafted rookie, Harris had eight points and two assists in 25 minutes. Alonzo Gee, signed on Tuesday, played 27 minutes off the bench and had three points and nine rebounds.
The Bobcats led by as many as 19 points but were nursing a 94-90 edge when Jackson hit a 3-pointer with 1:39 left to seal the victory.
Guard Ramon Sessions scored 22 points and Antawn Jamison added 18 for the Cavs, who have lost five straight and 15 of 16.
