Dwyane Wade scored 17 of his 28 points in the fourth quarter and the Miami Heat won their 10th straight game with a 101-95 home victory over the struggling Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday.
LeBron James had 21 points, 13 rebounds and five assists in his second game against his former team. Chris Bosh added 16 points for the Heat.
Wade started the fourth quarter by hitting six of his first seven shots. His 3-pointer with 4:22 remaining gave Miami a 95-81 lead. But just as the Heat appeared to be pulling away, the Cavaliers cut the deficit to 96-93 on a pair of free throws from Antawn Jamison with 1:33 remaining.
James split a pair of free throws with 1:06 left before Daniel Gibson and Mo Williams missed 3-pointers in the final minute to send the Cavs to their ninth consecutive loss. This one was much more competitive than the Heat’s 28-point blowout win in James’ return to Cleveland two weeks ago.
Gibson scored 26 points for the Cavs, who led by 10 points late in the first half. Anderson Varejao had 18 points and 15 rebounds and Williams added 13 points and nine assists in one of the Cavs’ best efforts during their skid.
