Austin Daye’s 3-pointer with 3.5 seconds left tied the game and the Detroit Pistons scored the first eight points of overtime to defeat the visiting Philadelphia 76ers 112-109 Saturday night.
Daye opened the scoring in the overtime with another 3-pointer and then made a dunk to extend the lead to 104-99 midway through the extra session.
Philadelphia (15-22) missed its first seven shots of the overtime and trailed 110-103 with 21 seconds to play but then hit a pair of 3-pointers to cut the deficit to 110-109 with seven seconds left.
Detroit’s Rodney Stuckey hit two free throws to make it 112-109 and Jodie Meeks missed a 3-pointer to tie it before the buzzer sounded as the Sixers have now lost three in a row.
Tayshaun Prince led the Pistons (12-24) with 23 points. Daye finished with 15 points and Rodney Stuckey added 20 to help snap a three-game losing streak.
Rookie Evan Turner led Philadelphia with 19 points and Elton Brand had 17 as six Philadelphia players hit double figures.
The 76ers maintained a three-point lead throughout most of the closing stages of regulation and had a chance to put the game away but Lou Williams missed a pair of free throws with six seconds left.
