Derrick Rose scored 36 points to lift the Chicago Bulls to a 90-79 win over the Boston Celtics at Chicago Saturday night.
Rose hit 10 of 19 shots from the field and put the game away by hitting 15 of 19 attempts from the free-throw line as the Bulls snapped Boston’s four-game winning streak.
Paul Pierce led four Celtics in double figures with 21 points but Boston shot just 38 percent from the field in the game. Ray Allen added 19 points for the Celtics, who played their fifth straight game without Kevin Garnett. Garnett is expected to return next week from a strained calf.
The Bulls led most of the way but didn’t seal things until late in the fourth quarter. They held Boston to just 15 fourth-quarter points to improve to 16-3 at home on the season.
Carlos Boozer added 22 points and 10 rebounds for the Bulls, who won the battle on the boards, 48-27.
