Garrett Cooper hit a go-ahead, two-run homer in the seventh inning to lift the host Miami Marlins to an 8-6 win over the Detroit Tigers on Sunday afternoon.
Cooper's 13th homer of the season allowed the Marlins to erase a 6-5 deficit. Jean Segura added a solo shot in the eighth to provide Miami with an insurance run.
Two relievers obtained in trades within the past week helped the Marlins earn the win, as Jorge Lopez (5-2) got the victory and David Robertson picked up his 15th save.
Marlins right fielder Avisail Garcia went 2-for-4 with a triple, one RBI and one run. Garcia hadn't played since April 28 due to a back injury.
Neither starter earned a decision.
Miami's Jesus Luzardo allowed four runs on seven hits in 4 2/3 innings. He walked three and struck out three. Tarik Skubal also went 4 2/3 innings, giving up four runs on six hits. He didn't issue a walk and fanned four.
Tyler Holton (0-2) took the loss.
Detroit opened the scoring with a four-run third inning. Matt Vierling walked, advanced to third on Andy Ibanez's ground-rule double and scored when Spencer Torkelson hit a single that bounced off the glove of shortstop Jon Berti.
Javier Baez then added an RBI single, and Miguel Cabrera slugged a two-run double to left.
Miami drew even at 4-4 in the fifth thanks to a rally started by Garcia's one-out triple. Yuli Gurriel drove in Garcia with a single before Nick Fortes had a run-scoring double and Garrett Hampson supplied a two-run double.
Miami took a 5-4 lead in the sixth when Berti reached on a throwing error and later came around to score on a base hit from Garcia.
Detroit reclaimed the lead in the seventh, going ahead 6-5 when, with the bases loaded, Kerry Carpenter plated two runs with a single.
Cooper and Segura followed with their homers to close the scoring.
