Yu Chang plated the go-ahead run with an eighth-inning double after Austin Hedges hit a tying home run as the Cleveland Indians rallied past the visiting Boston Red Sox 7-5 on Sunday to avoid a three-game sweep.

Hedges' seventh homer of the season tied the game at 5-5. Oscar Mercado singled and was awarded home plate on Chang's double after Red Sox second baseman Yairo Munoz interfered with him on the base path. Myles Straw tacked on an RBI single to make it a two-run game.

Jose Ramirez had a solo home run and two RBIs and Wilson Ramos knocked a two-run single for Cleveland, which returned to .500 with its sixth win in nine games.

Rafael Devers hit a pair of solo homers and Bobby Dalbec had a solo shot for Boston. Jarren Duran and J.D. Martinez each had an RBI for the Red Sox, who had their three-game winning streak snapped.

Bryan Shaw (6-6) picked up the win after tossing a scoreless eighth and Emmanuel Clase pitched a scoreless ninth for his 19th save for Cleveland. Indians starter Eli Morgan allowed two runs on a pair of hits with a walk and three strikeouts in three innings.

Red Sox reliever Austin Davis (0-2) took the loss after giving up three runs on three hits in 2/3 of an inning in the eighth. Boston starter Tanner Houck allowed three runs on one hit with four walks and three strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings.

Devers launched his team-leading 31st home run of the season in the first before Dalbec went deep for the 17th time in the second for Boston. Duran worked a bases-loaded walk in the fourth inning and Martinez added an RBI double in the fifth.

Cleveland mounted a comeback against Houck with a three-run sixth on Ramirez's homer and Ramos' two-run single. Devers clubbed his 32nd homer in the seventh before Ramirez cut it to 5-4 with his double in Cleveland's half of the inning.

The start of the game was postponed by three hours and 10 minutes due to a weather delay.
