Braves 7, Angels 3: Tommy La Stella highlighted a four-run sixth inning with a two-run double and Jason Heyward homered as host Atlanta rallied to win the rubber match of the three-game series.

La Stella finished with three hits in as many at-bats, Evan Gattis went 2-for-4 to extend his hitting streak to 15 games and Freddie Freeman and Chris Johnson also had two hits apiece for Atlanta. Anthony Varvaro (2-1) struck out three in two perfect innings in relief of starter Mike Minor, who gave up three runs on 11 hits with six strikeouts in five frames, and Craig Kimbrel fanned both batters he faced for his 20th save.

Mike Trout finished with three hits – including his 14th homer – to extend his hitting streak to 10 games and Erick Aybar added a solo shot for Los Angeles, which built a 3-0 lead. Hector Santiago (0-7) gave up just two hits over five scoreless innings before surrendering four runs on three hits and a walk while recording just one out in the sixth.

B.J. Upton drew a one-out walk and Freeman singled to center before Gattis lined a soft base hit to right to plate the Braves’ first run. After Justin Upton’s infield single brought home Freeman, reliever Kevin Jepsen allowed Johnson’s base hit that loaded the bases for La Stella, whose liner to deep right-center plated two to give Atlanta a 4-3 edge.

Aybar led off the second with his fifth homer of the season before leaving the game an inning later with a sore left hip. Trout belted a leadoff shot deep into the left-field seats in the third, and Howie Kendrick’s single later in the inning scored Albert Pujols to make it 3-0.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Heyward, who hit a solo shot off Angels RHP Cam Bedrosian with one out in the seventh, robbed Trout twice with outstanding catches. … Los Angeles left eight men on base in the first five innings. … Angels manager Mike Scioscia returned to the bench after missing Saturday’s game to attend the funeral of former teammate Bob Welch.
