Flames 4, Rangers 3: Mike Cammalleri scored with eight seconds remaining in the second period to snap a tie as host Calgary ended New York's five-game winning streak.
Joe Colborne netted a power-play goal while captain Mark Giordano and fourth-liner Kevin Westgarth also tallied for the Flames, who secured their sixth victory in nine games. Cammalleri added an assist and Karri Ramo turned aside 38 shots to notch his third win in four starts.
Fourth-liner Brian Boyle, defenseman Raphael Diaz and Brad Richards scored in a span of 3:27 early in the second period for the Rangers, who saw their lead over third-place Philadelphia in the Metropolitan Division drop to one point. The Flyers posted a 4-2 triumph over Toronto earlier Friday.
After Westgarth poked home a loose puck at 13:49 of the second period to forge a 3-3 tie, Calgary seized the lead following a creative play in the neutral zone. Defenseman Chris Butler alertly kicked a rolling puck ahead to Cammalleri, who skated in and wristed a shot from the outer edge of the right faceoff circle that eluded Henrik Lundqvist (24 saves) for his team-leading 24th goal - and 11th in March.
Calgary claimed a 2-0 lead in the first period before New York found its offense early in the second. Boyle had an easy tap-in at 2:12 before Diaz's shot from the point deflected in off Flames defenseman Tyler Wotherspoon. Richards' sharp wrist shot from the right circle gave New York its first lead at 5:39.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Cammalleri has recorded the game-winning goal in five of the Flames' last six victories. ... Rangers D Ryan McDonagh saw his five-game point streak come to an end.
