No. 5 Duke 73, Florida State 70: Quinn Cook totaled 26 points to lead all scorers as the visiting Blue Devils escaped with a win over the Seminoles in ACC play.
Tyus Jones added 16 points and 12 assists for Duke (21-3, 8-3 ACC), which won its fourth straight game. Jahlil Okafor contributed 13 points and Justise Winslow had 10 for the Blue Devils, who got all but six points from their starters.
Devon Bookert's 23 points and six assists paced Florida State (13-12, 5-7), which has lost two of its last three games. Montay Brandon had 12 points and Jarquez Smith chipped in with 11 off the bench for the Seminoles, who saw leading scorer Xavier Rathan-Mayes held to five points on 2-of-7 shooting.
Florida State enjoyed the early advantage, jumping out to an 8-2 lead as Duke missed its first eight attempts from the field and failed to score until a pair of free throws by Okafor 6:17 into the game. The Blue Devils restored order with an 18-3 run led by 10 points from Cook, and after Smith's dunk drew the Seminoles within 27-24 with 1:38 left in the half, Duke scored the final five points for a 32-24 halftime lead.
Bookert opened the second half with a 3-pointer for Florida State but the Blue Devils kept up the heat, answering with a 13-4 surge to take a 45-31 lead with a little more than 15 minutes left. Rathan-Mayes capped a 12-2 run to pull Florida State within 70-69 with 11 seconds left before Cook sank a pair of free throws and Duke intentionally sent the Seminoles to the free-throw line down the stretch to avoid a potential game-tying 3-pointer.
