USC 63, Cal State Bakersfield 59: Byron Wesley scored 19 of his 20 points in the second half as the host Trojans rallied to defeat the Roadrunners.

Nikola Jovanovic added 14 points and 10 rebounds for USC, which won its third consecutive game. Wesley hit two tiebreaking free throws with 1:02 remaining as the Trojans (7-3) overcame a late six-point deficit.

Issiah Grayson was 4-of-4 from 3-point range and scored 17 points for Cal State Bakersfield (5-6). Stefon Johnson missed a tying 3-point attempt with four seconds left for the Roadrunners, who have lost five straight games and are 0-14 lifetime against Pac-12 programs.

USC trailed 56-50 after a 3-pointer by Grayson with 4:27 left before closing strong and scoring 13 of the final 16 points. D.J. Haley hit two free throws to tie the score at 58 with 1:40 to play and Wesley hit the go-ahead free throws 38 seconds later.

The contest was tied at 28 at the break before the Trojans took a four-point lead early in the second half. Grayson responded by scoring the first eight points of a 10-0 surge to put the Roadrunners back up by six.

GAME NOTEBOOK: USC was 30-of-46 from the free-throw line compared to Cal State Bakersfield’s 8-of-15. … The Roadrunners are 0-2 against Pac-12 programs this season, having also lost to Washington State on Nov. 8. … The Trojans are 6-0 at home.
