South Carolina 74, Arkansas-Little Rock 62: Brenton Williams scored 17 points and LaShay Page added 16 as the Gamecocks cruised to victory in the final game of the Hoops for Hope Classic in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
Mindaugas Kacinas chipped in 13 points and Eric Smith contributed 12 for South Carolina (5-1), which shot 56 percent from the field.
Will Neighbour led the Trojans (4-3) with 19 points on 8-for-12 shooting. One day after shooting 50 percent in a 69-56 win over previously unbeaten Southern Methodist, the Trojans shot 40 percent from the field.
The Trojans trailed 20-14 on James White’s jumper with 9:17 left in the first half, but South Carolina responded with a 19-8 run to lead by 17 at halftime.
Lakeem Jackson had 10 points for South Carolina, which has won two straight since being upset by Elon 65-53 last Wednesday.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The loss snapped the Trojans’ three-game winning streak. … Arkansas-Little Rock missed its first nine 3-point attempts. … South Carolina freshman Michael Carrera had two points in eight minutes after hitting a 3-pointer at the buzzer to force overtime in Saturday’s 74-67 win over Missouri State 74-67.
