No. 6 Florida 69, Kentucky 52: Scottie Wilbekin had 14 points and eight assists and Patric Young added 12 points, 11 rebounds and four blocked shots as the host Gators defeated the Wildcats in a Southeastern Conference showdown.
Mike Rosario and Casey Prather scored 12 points apiece and Erik Murphy added 10 as Florida (20-3, 10-1) led by double digits for most of the contest and increased its SEC lead to two games over Kentucky.
Julius Mays and Willie Cauley-Stein scored 10 points apiece for the Wildcats (17-7, 8-3), who had a season-long five-game winning streak halted. Kentucky was dealt a blow when standout freshman Nerlens Noel suffered what appeared to be a serious left knee injury and left the O'Connell Center in a wheelchair.
Kentucky led 11-10 before Florida exploded with a 26-9 burst over 11 minutes to take a 16-point lead. The Gators led 38-25 at halftime.
Florida’s advantage reached 19 points on two free throws by Wilbekin with 15:57 to play. Kentucky moved within 57-45 on a 3-pointer by Mays with 9:39 remaining before the Gators used a 9-2 surge to increase the lead back to 19.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Florida is 12-0 at home. … Noel was helped off the floor after suffering the injury with 8:03 remaining. He had eight points, six rebounds and three blocked shots. … The Gators have won 20 or more games in 15 consecutive seasons.
