No. 10 Kansas 84, Oregon State 78: Freshman guard Ben McLemore scored 21 points and Travis Releford added 20 points, seven rebounds and five assists to lead the Jayhawks to their fifth straight win in the BMO Harris Bank Kansas City Shootout.
Kansas (6-1) looked like it was going to blow the game open early, jumping out to a 33-19 first-half lead behind 15 points - including three 3-pointers - by McLemore.
McLemore went to the bench after he picked up his second foul, and Oregon State rallied to tie it at 37 after capping a 13-0 run on a three-point play by guard Roberto Nelson.
The Jayhawks led by as many as 13 points midway in the second half but the Beavers (4-2) wouldn't go away thanks to Ahmad Starks. The 5-9 junior point guard went 7-for-13 from 3-point range en route to a game-high 25 points.
Kansas shot 60 percent from the floor but was hurt by 17 turnovers.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Kansas C Jeff Withey, who broke the school single-game record with 12 blocked shots in Monday's 70-57 victory over San Jose State, finished with three blocks to go along with 17 points and five rebounds. ... The Jayhawks improved to 17-4 all-time in the Sprint Center. They won the 2008, 2010 and 2011 Big 12 Tournament Championships in the venue. ... Sophomore F Eric Moreland grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds for the Beavers.
