TCU 44, Prairie View A&M 39: Junior guard Jarvis Ray scored in double figures for the fourth straight game, leading the Horned Frogs with 13 as they knocked off the visiting Panthers in the first round of the South Padre Island Invitational.
TCU held Prairie View A&M to just 28-percent shooting from the field, though the Panthers managed to outrebound the Horned Frogs by a 36-32 margin. Devonta Abron recorded a season-high 10 points.
Prairie View A&M (2-3) began the game on a 14-0 run, which was the largest lead for either team.
The Panthers led 32-31 with just over eight minutes remaining before their offense fell silent, recording just seven points the rest of the way.
Senior guard Jourdan DeMuynck scored a game-high 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Carl Blair added nine points. Only five Prairie View A&M players scored.
