Kyle Fogg scored 20 points to lead Arizona to a 85-61 win Thursday over visiting Washington State.

Fogg’s 18 first-half points were the most by any Arizona player in a half this season. Solomon Hill scored 17 points, with 15 coming in the second half. Brendon Lavender added 14.

The Wildcats had the hot hand from outside, making a season-high 15 3-pointers and making a season-high 57.7 percent 3-pointers (15-of-26). But Arizona’s perimeter defense was just as impressive, holding Washington State to 4-of-21 ( 19 percent) from 3-point range.

The Wildcats defense created 17 Washington State turnovers, outscoring the Cougars 23-9 on points off turnovers.

Arizona (14-7, 5-3) broke the game open with a 10-2 run to close out the first half up 42-27.

The Cougars were without their starting guards during the Wildcats first-half surge. Faisal Aden left the game with an injury with about four minutes left in the half, and DaVonte Lacy picked up his third foul with 2:17 left in the first half. Aden did not return to the game, finishing with six points.

Spurred by several fast breaks, the Wildcats started the second half with an 11-5 run that put them up 53-34 with 16:02 left. Arizona led by no fewer than 13 in the second half.

Brock Motem led Washington State(11-9, 3-5) with 18 points.
