Kemba Walker took over late and finished with 31 points and 10 assists as No. 12 Connecticut beat No. 9 Georgetown 78-70 in Hartford on Wednesday for its fourth victory over a top 10 team this season.
Jamal Coombs-McDaniel added 23 points on 8-of-11 shooting for the Huskies (20-5, 8-5 Big East), who moved into a tie for fifth in the Big East with Villanova and St. John’s.
Chris Wright scored 19 points for the Hoyas (20-6, 9-5), who had their eight-game winning streak come to an end.
Connecticut trailed by a point at the break but quickly took control in the second half and ran the lead up to as much as nine points 55-46 when Coombs-McDaniel hit a pair of free throws with 12:47 left.
Georgetown chipped away and retook the lead 70-69 when Austin Freeman cut through for a layup with 3:54 to play.
But Walker responded with a driving layup of his own, grabbed a rebound at the other end and knocked down a jumper as the Huskies pulled away.
