Suns 118, Trail Blazers 113: Eric Bledsoe scored a career-high 33 points to go along with 10 rebounds and six assists as Phoenix survived a scare from visiting Portland.
Isaiah Thomas added a season-high 27 points off the bench and Goran Dragic scored 16 for the Suns, who have won 14 of their last 18 games. Gerald Green added 12 points and P.J. Tucker grabbed a season-high 13 rebounds for Phoenix, which squandered all of a 25-point lead before surviving down the stretch behind Bledsoe.
Nicolas Batum collected a season-high 27 points, 10 rebounds and five assists for the Trail Blazers, who were without forward LaMarcus Aldridge (thumb). Wesley Matthews scored 22 points and Damian Lillard had 22 as well but stepped out of bounds in the final seconds when Portland was setting him up for a tying 3-point attempt.
Batum’s 3-pointer gave the Trail Blazers a 105-102 lead with 4:05 to play, and he knocked one down from 30 feet to put Portland in front 110-105 before Dragic and Bledsoe combined on a 6-0 run to put the Suns back in front. Batum had a chance to tie but missed the second of two free throws and Bledsoe knocked down two at the line with 10.9 seconds left to put Phoenix up 116-113.
The Trail Blazers bridged the first and second quarters with a six-minute scoreless drought and the Suns stretched the lead out to 58-33 before Portland cut it to 66-52 at the break. The Suns held a 15-point edge to begin the fourth quarter before Wright scored seven points in a 10-0 run to cut it to five, and Lillard led a 7-2 run to tie it at 102 with 4:26 to play.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Batum recorded at least 25 points, 10 rebounds and five assists for the first time in his career. … Lillard went 2-of-10 from 3-point range and is 7-of-34 from beyond the arc in the last four games. … Bledsoe went 10-of-15 from the free-throw line and hit all four of his attempts in the final 10.9 to put the game away.
