Raptors 99, Cavaliers 93: DeMar DeRozan erupted for 33 points as Toronto upended host Cleveland for its sixth win in seven games.
Terrence Ross added 19 points for the Raptors, who increased their lead atop the Atlantic Division to 4 1/2 games over the idle Brooklyn Nets. Kyle Lowry chipped in 13 points but shot just 3-for-15 from the floor and missed all nine of his 3-point attempts.
Kyrie Irving's 25 points and nine assists paced the Cavaliers, who have dropped three in a row since reeling off six consecutive victories. Spencer Hawes added 15 points and seven rebounds in his first start since joining Cleveland in a deadline-day trade with Philadelphia.
Toronto clamped down on defense after a shaky start, limiting the Cavaliers to five points over a 10-minute span bridging the first and second quarters to open up a double-digit lead. It stayed that way until late in the first half, when Jarrett Jack reeled off five points as part of a quarter-closing 7-0 run that trimmed the Raptors' lead to 47-41 entering the intermission.
Cleveland went ahead temporarily on Jack's three-point play near the midway point of the third quarter, and the Cavaliers overcame a Ross dunk and a DeRozan tip-in of a Lowry alley-oop pass to take a 70-69 edge entering the fourth. The teams traded the lead seven times over the next nine minutes, until Ross buried a 3-pointer, DeRozan added a reverse dunk and Lowry drew a charge on Irving to force a critical Cleveland turnover.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Lowry is the first player in franchise history to go without a 3-pointer on nine or more attempts. Three players had gone 0-for-8, the last being Alan Anderson in 2012. ... Cavaliers SF Luol Deng finished with eight points, nine rebounds and five assists but shot just 3-of-14 from the floor. ... Toronto players other than Lowry shot 10-of-23 from beyond the arc.
