Celtics 116, Magic 110 (OT): Paul Pierce hit the tiebreaking 3-pointer in overtime and Rajon Rondo had 16 assists for his 37th consecutive game in double figures as Boston downed host Orlando.
Rondo also scored 15 points and fell one rebound shy of a triple-double while matching John Stockton (1989) for the second-longest double-digit assist streak in NBA history. Magic Johnson set the record of 46 in 1983-84.
Kevin Garnett had 24 points and 10 rebounds for the Celtics, who scored eight of the final 10 points. Pierce tallied 23 points and his go-ahead 3-pointer with 2:10 left gave the Celtics a 111-108 lead.
J.J. Redick scored 21 points, Jameer Nelson tallied 20 and Arron Afflalo and Glen Davis added 15 apiece for Orlando.
The Magic trailed by six late in the third quarter before stringing together 13 straight points. Nelson scored 11 of them as Orlando took an 87-80 lead with 11:11 remaining in the game before Boston rallied and eventually forced overtime on Garnett’s 20-footer with 1:21 left.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The victory was only Boston’s fourth in its last 13 visits to Orlando. … The Magic hit 11-of-26 3-pointers with Redick and Nelson each sinking three. … Leandro Barbosa with 15 points, Brandon Bass with 13 points and 12 rebounds and Jared Sullinger with 11 points also scored in double figures for Boston.
