Franchy Cordero hit a two-out, two-strike grand slam to right-center field in the 10th inning as the Boston Red Sox swept a four-game series from the visiting Seattle Mariners with Sunday's 8-4 win.
The Sox scored five runs in the extra frame, beginning with Enrique Hernandez tying the score at 4-4 with a single through the right side.
Hernandez and Jackie Bradley Jr. both had multiple hits and Trevor Story and Christian Arroyo also homered for Boston, which has won five straight and improved to 1-6 in extra-inning contests this season.
With the Mariners down to their final out against Sox reliever Hansel Robles, Eugenio Suarez's two-out solo homer to left-center in the ninth forced extras.
Seattle took the lead in the top of the 10th when Adam Frazier's line single to center scored Sam Haggerty.
Jake Diekman (1-0) earned the win in relief for the Sox, striking out two in one inning.
Frazier went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBI to lead the Seattle offense. Ty France was 2-for-5 with a double.
Andres Munoz (1-2) suffered the loss after allowing four hits and five runs in two-thirds of an inning.
After failing to complete two innings Tuesday against Houston, Sox starter Nathan Eovaldi bounced back in a major way, striking out a career-high 11 across 6 2/3 innings of four-hit ball.
In the eighth, Robles got out of a two-on jam as J.P. Crawford grounded into a 4-6-3 double play.
Eovaldi struck out the side in both the second and third innings, including his 1,000th career strikeout.
Seattle starter Logan Gilbert retired the first five batters, but Arroyo changed that quickly to give the Sox a 1-0 lead in the second. Arroyo ripped his second homer of the season deep over the Green Monster in left.
Arroyo entered the lineup as the designated hitter only after J.D. Martinez was scratched due to back spasms.
In the third, Boston made it 2-0 on a Xander Bogaerts sacrifice fly to right.
Eovaldi allowed just two hits before Seattle tied the score in the sixth. After Taylor Trammell drew a leadoff walk, Frazier dropped a two-run homer just inside Pesky's Pole.
During the bottom of the frame, Story put the Sox back in front by finding the center-field Monster Seats for a solo homer. It was the Boston second baseman's fifth home run and 13th RBI of the four-game series.
