Jamie Benn and Devin Shore scored the goals and Tyler Seguin added two assists as the visiting Dallas Stars defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 2-1 Thursday night.

Goaltender Anton Khudobin stopped 31 shots including a big save in the final seconds for the Stars, who won for the second game in a row.

Patrick Marleau scored a power-play goal for the Maple Leafs, who have five losses at home this season and are undefeated on the road.

Toronto goaltender Frederik Andersen made 17 saves. The Stars had only three shots on goal in the third period.

The Maple Leafs had the only power play -- a holding penalty to Brett Ritchie -- in a scoreless first period and had a 10-7 advantage in shots on goal.

The Stars had their first power play at 9:53 of the second period when Par Lindholm was off for holding. They did not score with the man advantage but did take a 1-0 lead two seconds after the penalty expired. Benn deflected a wrist shot from the edge of the left circle by Seguin for his fifth goal of the season. John Klingberg also had an assist.

The Stars had another power play when Toronto's Justin Holl took a holding penalty at 12:41 of the second but came closer to allowing a short-handed goal than scoring themselves.

The Stars killed off a tripping penalty to Marc Methot, assessed at 16:02.

Toronto led 16-15 in shots on goal after the second.

After killing off Ritchie's holding penalty assessed at 1:12 of the third, the Stars took a 2-0 lead on Shore's third goal of the season on a wrist shot from the edge of the crease at 4:43. Mattias Janmark and Seguin earned assists.

The Stars survived a tripping penalty to Jason Dickinson that started at 5:30 of the third.

Approaching the midway point of the third period, the Maple Leafs came close to scoring when a puck crossed the crease but did not cross the goal line.

Ritchie was off for tripping when Marleau scored his second goal of the season at 16:51 of the third period on assists from Morgan Rielly and John Tavares. The Maple Leafs had removed their goaltender for an extra attacker.

Toronto defenseman Ron Hainsey played in his 1,000th game.
