Bruins 3, Red Wings 2: Rookie defenseman Zack Trotman scored his first NHL goal with 2:08 left in the third period as visiting Boston rallied for its fourth consecutive victory and drew even in points with third-place Detroit in the Atlantic Division.

Carl Soderberg recorded a goal and an assist while Loui Eriksson also tallied as the Bruins erased a two-goal deficit in the third period to beat the Red Wings for the fourth straight time. Reilly Smith and Brett Connolly each collected two assists and Tuukka Rask turned aside 35 shots for Boston, which remained three points ahead of Ottawa for the second wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.

Stephen Weiss scored one goal and set up Luke Glendening's tally for the fading Red Wings, who tumbled to their ninth defeat in 12 games (3-7-2). Petr Mrazek made 22 saves in his fourth straight start but couldn't handle Trotman's soft wrist shot from the bottom of the right faceoff circle late in the third.

Detroit doubled up the Bruins with a 14-7 advantage in shots over the first 20 minutes but were unable to beat Rask until midway through the second period. Defenseman Danny DeKeyser's shot caromed off the end boards to the front of the net and Glendening lifted a backhander over the right pad of Rask.

The Red Wings doubled their the lead 2:52 into the third as Weiss popped home a rebound from the doorstep during a power play, but the Bruins responded with a pair of goals 2:14 apart to tie it. Soderberg buried a juicy rebound while on the man advantage before Smith drew Mrazek out of the crease and set up Eriksson for an easy shot into an open net at 7:19.

Bruins C Patrice Bergeron missed nearly the entire second period after taking a stick to the face during a draw but returned to start the third. Bergeron received 20 stitches and played the final session with a face shield.
