Kings 5, Panthers 2: Defenseman Matt Greene's first tally in 13 months highlighted a four-goal second period as host Los Angeles defeated Florida for the ninth time in 10 outings.

Jeff Carter, Marian Gaborik and captain Dustin Brown each converted on the power play for the Kings, who have five goals with the man-advantage in the last two games and improved to 9-2-1 at Staples Center. Defenseman Robyn Regehr tallied for the first time since Feb. 26, Brayden McNabb and Anze Kopitar each notched a pair of assists and Jonathan Quick finished with 30 saves.

Jimmy Hayes scored his fourth goal in five contests and set up Jussi Jokinen's tally for Florida, which has dropped five of seven (2-3-2) and was blanked 7-0 in a two-game sweep by Los Angeles last season. Roberto Luongo yielded four goals on 25 shots in two periods before being relieved by Al Montoya, who made one save in the third.

After a scoreless first period, the Kings drew first blood 4:32 into the second as Greene redirected McNabb's diagonal slap pass past Luongo for his first goal since Oct. 19, 2013. Vincent Trocheck's four-minute high-sticking penalty led to Los Angeles' second goal midway through the session as Carter accepted Dwight King's centering feed and beat Luongo blocker side from the right circle.

Gaborik swatted home a rebound at 14:18 before Regehr's slap shot from the left circle beat Luongo with eight seconds remaining in the session gave Los Angeles a 4-0 lead. Hayes put Florida on the scoreboard 2:01 into the third and Jokinen cleaned up a rebound 4:54 later, but Brown ended the threat with his third goal of the season at 16:49.
