Rangers 2, Flyers 1: Captain Ryan Callahan collected his 200th career point with a power-play goal before exiting with an apparent left shoulder injury as host New York avenged an early-season loss to Philadelphia.
Defenseman Michael Del Zotto scored and set up a goal and reigning Vezina Trophy winner Henrik Lundqvist turned aside 26 shots for New York, which posted its ninth win in 10 outings versus the Flyers.
Del Zotto opened the scoring 1:57 into the contest after wiring a shot from just inside the blue line which squeezed between Ilya Bryzgalov's extended right pad and near post.
After killing off a 5-on-3 power play, New York doubled the advantage with 8:29 remaining in the second period. Rick Nash was denied by Bryzgalov on the doorstep, but Callahan settled the loose puck and deftly shifted from backhand to forehand before depositing it into the open net for his second goal of the season.
Defenseman Kimmo Timonen trimmed the deficit after wiring a shot from the high slot which caromed off the right post and into the net. The Flyers were unable to net the equalizer and dropped their second straight game.
