Flames 4, Oilers 3: Lee Stempniak recorded a goal and two assists to lead host Calgary to its first win of the season.
Defenseman Jay Bouwmeester notched a goal and an assist while Curtis Glencross and Mikael Backlund also scored for the Flames. Miikka Kiprusoff made 17 saves for his first victory in four starts.
Jordan Eberle and rookie defenseman Justin Schultz each had a goal and an assist for the Oilers, who were 2-for-4 on the power play but have only won once in their last 12 trips to Calgary. Sam Gagner scored with two seconds remaining in the game.
The Flames held a 2-0 lead late in the first period on goals by Backlund and Bouwmeester before Schultz halved the deficit, scoring five seconds into a penalty to Glencross for goaltender interference.
Glencross restored the two-goal lead four minutes into the second period, when his wrist shot fooled Edmonton goaltender Devan Dubnyk, who stopped 31 shots.
