Captain Daniel Alfredsson netted his 400th career goal 3:31 into overtime as the Ottawa Senators overcame a three-goal deficit to record a 4-3 home triumph over the Calgary Flames on Friday.
Zack Smith scored for the second straight contest and Nick Foligno and defenseman Erik Karlsson also tallied for Ottawa, which snapped a modest two-game losing skid.
Craig Anderson replaced an ineffective Alex Auld and stopped all 17 shots he faced.
With Rene Bourque in the penalty box for holding in overtime, Ottawa turned up the intensity by peppering rookie Leland Irving with shots. Alfredsson finally broke through with a snap shot from the point to become the 86th member of the NHL's 400-goal club.
After defenseman Chris Butler gave Calgary a 3-0 lead late in the first period, the Senators began to chip away in the second. Foligno backhanded the puck past Irving at 3:34 of the session and Smith trimmed the deficit to one nearly 8 1/2 minutes later.
Karlsson, who assisted on Alfredsson's milestone goal, leveled the contest after following his initial shot and wristing the rebound past Irving 4:28 into the third period.
Curtis Glencross netted his team-leading 15th goal of the season and Bourque also tallied for Calgary, which fell for just the third time in 11 games against Ottawa.
