Captain Brenden Morrow and Jamie Benn collected a goal and an assist apiece and Kari Lehtonen turned aside all 23 shots he faced as the Dallas Stars skated to a 5-0 home triumph over the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday.
Steve Ott and Jason Williams also tallied and Mike Ribeiro and Brad Richards notched a pair of assists apiece for Dallas (38-25-8), which pulled into a tie for sixth place with Chicago (38-25-8) in the Western Conference standings.
After Ott opened the scoring with 2:23 remaining in the first period, Benn and Morrow tallied over 2 1/2 minutes apart early in the second to give the Stars a 3-0 advantage.
Benn has recorded eight goals and five assists in his last nine contests. For his part, Morrow tallied for just the second time in 12 games.
The offensive explosion was more than enough for Lehtonen, who secured his second shutout of the season and 16th career.
Corey Crawford permitted three goals on 10 shots before being relieved by former Star Marty Turco, who made 15 saves.
