Cal Clutterbuck scored to snap a tie just over two minutes into the third period as the visiting Minnesota Wild skated to a 3-1 triumph over the Boston Bruins on Thursday.
Martin Havlat tallied four seconds into a power play in the second period and Mikko Koivu added an empty-net goal as Minnesota (20-15-5) posted its third straight win and improved to 6-0-0 all-time in Beantown.
Jose Theodore turned aside 35 shots to improve to 7-5-2 this season for the Wild, who are 9-4-1 in their last 14 games. Minnesota is now two points shy of the Colorado Avalanche for second place in the competitive Northwest Division.
With the game tied at 1-1 at 2:22 of the third period, Clutterbuck collected the puck after Marc Savard's turnover and quickly wristed it past Tuukka Rask for his 12th goal of the season. The tally ties him with defenseman Brent Burns for the team lead.
Rookie defenseman Steve Kampfer leveled the contest at 1-1 midway through the second period for Northeast Division-leading Boston (21-12-6), which went 0-for-4 on the power play. The Bruins have failed to convert in all 35 attempts with the man-advantage in 11 lifetime games against the Wild.
Rask finished with 31 saves to fall to 3-8-1 this season.
