Connor Vanover scored a team-high 19 points and had seven rebounds Saturday to lead No. 16 Arkansas to an 86-69 victory over Gardner-Webb at Fayetteville, Ark.

The Razorbacks (2-0) made 13 of 27 shots (48.1 percent) from 3-point range, including 9 of 17 in the second half.

The teams combined to sink 26 shots from 3-point range as Gardner-Webb was 13 of 31 from beyond the arc.

Vanover, a 7-foot-3 transfer from California, made 7 of 12 shots from the field, including a 3-pointer, and made all four of his free throw attempts.

He started for Arkansas after coach Eric Musselman decided to not play him in the season opener against Mercer on Tuesday.

JD Notae finished 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field for the Razorbacks, including 4 of 7 from 3-point range. Davonte Davis added 10 points and six assists.

Gardner-Webb (0-2) was led by reserve Julien Soumaoro's 20 points, 16 of them in the second half. He made 5 of 7 shots from beyond the arc.

Kareem Reid finished with 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field and Lance Terry added 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting.

Reid and Terry combined for 12 of Gardner-Webb's first 16 made field goals before Soumaoro came on strong at the end.

Arkansas outscored Gardner-Webb 23-5 in the last 5:33 of the first half to take a 42-26 lead at halftime.

The Razorbacks outrebounded the Bulldogs 24-13 and in the first half and finished the game with a 39-29 margin.

The dominance inside led to 15 second-chance points and 34 points in the paint.

Gardner-Webb got only as close as 14 points in the second half, and Arkansas' 11-0 run extended the margin to 67-41 with 9:27 remaining.

Arkansas was efficient offensively with only nine turnovers compared to 23 assists.

Arkansas forced Gardner-Webb into 15 turnovers that led to 15 points by the Razorbacks.
